Our Role

We start where the waters run deep, the River Congo. The deepest majestic waterway carving through earth and stone, flowing so mightily with a profound impact on humanity, representing our Public Accountability (PA) pillar. Despite the wealth that surrounds it, the River Congo remains shrouded in exploitation, corruption and mismanagement. A reflection of the Kenyan reality. Our Nation bequeathed with plenty of resources (a rich and ripe nation), but realities on the ground paint a murky and disheartening picture marred with extreme poverty, escalating hunger levels, high taxes, unemployment, an ill-conceived education system and soaring debt. While Kenya carries great promise and bravado: greed, corruption, hunger for power, ill-acquired wealth, love for debt and more debt, wasted resources and a repulsion for accountability in leadership intertwine and drown our progress. Like the Congo Basin Kenya's wealth is surrounded by a dense forest of wrong actions leaving Kenyans miserable, PA's efforts are tailored to creating a dense movement to redress this malaise.

Like the River Congo's relentless current, PA is not just a mere bystander, standing still in time, and observing as the economy's belly malnourishes and growls. Instead, PA surges forward, pushing against tides and rising like the Lualaba tributary against corruption, and fiscal mismanagement. Weaving into Kenya's fabric of change, just as the River Congo weaves through the heart of Africa. All in pursuit of a better today! Public Accountability Through strategic litigation and civic education, seeks to drive national conversations on debt, PFM, anti-corruption and legislative oversight. As architects of change, we will strengthen our work on Okoa Uchumi, the TUNU Campaign, the Devolution Working Group, CDF accountability and fight for the rule of law alongside the fearless Gen Z.

Key Outcomes

• Citizens' engagement with government actors is enhanced for effective public resource management.
