Civil Society Organizations in Kenya, under the Okoa Uchumi Coalition and @CSPEN (Civil Society Parliamentary Engagement Network) came together to conduct an analysis of The Finance Bill 2022 on 4th May 2022.
Some of the main issues were:
Income Tax– discussion on the additions and deductions that should go into the Finance bill. e.g., on Digital Service Tax (DST), the proposal is that the Government to expound on the scope of Permanent Establishment
Finance Bill and Health; taxing products that have negative health effects.
Excise Duty- Section 36.
The analysis and findings were submitted to the National Planning and Finance Committee of the National Assembly
